The new long-stay visa

Destination Thailand Visa (DTV)

A 5-year, multiple-entry visa for digital nomads, remote workers, freelancers, foreign talent and those coming for Thai soft-power activities — Muay Thai, Thai culinary training and medical treatment — plus their spouses and children.

At a glance

The key facts

The Destination Thailand Visa gives long-term flexibility without the commitment of a work or immigrant visa.

Visa Validity

5 years
Multiple entries throughout the validity period.

Period of Stay

180 days
Per entry into Thailand.

Extension of Stay

+180 days
1-time extension at the Thai Immigration Bureau, not exceeding 180 days per entry.

How the 180 + 180 works

Each entry allows a stay of up to 180 days. You may apply for a one-time extension of up to 180 days at the Thai Immigration Bureau. After the maximum stay of 180 days + 180 days, you need to depart the country and re-enter Thailand with the same DTV visa within the visa validity date.

Five years to call Thailand home base

With multiple entries and up to 180 days per stay, the DTV lets remote workers and soft-power visitors split their time between work, travel and discovery — from island shores to bustling cities — without restarting the visa process each year.
